What is Outnow?

Outnow is the fresh new brand name for MyMovieStream DVD Rental.

Outnow.co.uk is owned and run by MyMovieStream Limited and gives you all the benefits of our award-winning service, but with the fresh Outnow look and a host of great service improvements, including: improved Search, greater control over your Rental List, better Recommendations, more TV series, Blu-Ray movies, more New Releases and a whole lot more! Plus we’ll be adding more great features over the Summer and beyond, including Games Rental, Trailers, Competitions, DVD Retail, New Rental Packages and Movie Downloads.

How does the new List Management work?

You now have much more control over your Rental List and can tell us which titles at Top, High or Medium priority for you. We’ll always try and send your Top priority titles first of course, but please also refer to the Availability flags to help you manage your choices.

We recommend that you keep plenty of titles in your List (at least 15) and that you use the Top, High and Medium priority indicators to tell us which titles you want to receive first. If you have 50 titles in your List and you make them all Top priority, that’s fine... but we won’t really know which ones you want first!

We think you’ll find the new Priority system and Availability flags easy to use and, combined with the improved disc Allocation system, you should soon get even more enjoyment from Outnow!

If you joined us before the launch of Outnow, your existing Rental List has been transferred to the new system and we have set the titles that you had 1-10 as Top priority, then the one s you had in positions 11-20 as High Priority, with the remainder set to Medium. So please log in and explore the new features now and update your List priorities if you wish!

How do I join?

Click on Join Now (above), complete the simple sign-up process, choose a rental package, then choose at least 10 DVDs and we’ll dispatch your first available disc(s) as soon as possible. You’ll need to provide your contact details and register means of payment for security reasons and future payments should you become a full Member. We use Secure Servers so all the information you provide will be safe.

Is there an Introductory Offer?

Yes – all new customers are entitled to an Introductory Offer. You may choose from 6 different rental packages with either a 2 week FREE TRIAL or "First Month Half Price”. We sometimes make further special offers, usually with our partners, which may include an enhanced Free Trial, discounted subscription or other additional benefits. Please note that all such offers are strictly one-per-household and you will not be eligible to claim a second introductory offer.

How do I activate my Gift Subscription?

To activate a Gift Subscription, click “Join Now” (top right of this screen) and make sure you enter your Gift Voucher code on Step 1 of Registration. Your Gift Voucher will entitle you to a free subscription period on a specific rental package and we may make the offer for you to upgrade your package during Registration. Your Gift Subscription period will begin on the date that you complete Registration and continue until the period expires. If you wish to cancel the service, please do so at any time before the end of your Gift Subscription period – or you can choose to carry on using Outnow after your Gift Subscription period, in which case you will be charged on a monthly basis for as long as you decide to continue using Outnow.

I have a Free Trial offer – how does it work?

If you have a promotional code that gives you a special Free Trial offer, you will need to enter the code at the end of Step 1 of Registration. Your Free Trial will entitle you to a certain number of rentals within a maximum time period – e.g. “up to 4 free rentals within 2 weeks”. Such offers usually relate to our 2-disc or 3-disc package and give you the means to try the service for free. If you like the service, simply carry on using Outnow and you will automatically be upgraded to full membership and charged for your first month when your Free Trial ends and for each subsequent month that you continue to enjoy the service. But, if you decide not to continue, log in and cancel anytime before the end of your Free Trial (before you return your last Free Trial disc AND within the maximum time period) and you won’t pay a penny.

If you decide to carry on to full membership, you can also upgrade or downgrade your package to fit your budget and viewing habits. There are six packages to choose from, ranging from 2 discs a month at just £4.88/month for the occasional viewer, to the monster 6 disc unlimited deal at £24.46/month for the real movie addict!

From time to time Outnow may offer incentives as part of a Free Trial, in which case you are required to activate your Free Trial, select a minimum of 15 titles and have received at least 2 discs from us in order to receive the incentive. Any such incentives (e.g. Gift vouchers, free DVDs or any other such promotional incentives) are available while stocks last. In the event that stocks of any such incentives are exhausted, Outnow may at its sole discretion offer an alternative as a good will gesture.

How much does membership cost?

We currently offer a choice of 6 rental packages so you can choose a Membership to suit your budget and viewing habits. Packages and costs are as follows:

These costs are all-inclusive and cover rentals fees, packaging and First Class postage to and from your home.
Following any introductory offer that you claim, you will be automatically charged on a monthly basis for each month that you decide to continue as a member. With Outnow there are no Return Dates, Late Fees or hidden costs.

In the case of the Limited rental packages, you can also choose whether to have a fixed monthly billing cycle, or can take the option to start your next subscription period immediately on return of your final disc(s) in a given period, so that you receive your next available disc(s) without having to wait.

How many rentals can I have per month?

Outnow's unlimited rental packages provide you with a constant stream of DVDs each month and you can have 2, 3, 4 or 6 discs out at any time with no limit on the maximum number of rentals per month. To get the most enjoyment and value from Outnow, it is important to regularly update your DVD List and to use our unique Availability Guide, so that we always have discs to send out to you as we receive each batch of returned discs. The 3-disc rental package is our most popular and enables you to have a choice of DVDs “on tap” for you and your family, with 3 DVDs out at once and no limit on the maximum number of rentals per month - our existing Members on this package generally take 9 rentals per month.

For the less frequent movie-watcher, we now offer 2 fixed rental packages, giving you either a maximum of 2 rentals per month for only £4.88, or a maximum of 4 rentals maximum per month 2-at-a-time for just £7.82. Please remember you can always upgrade or downgrade your account if you decide you want more or less DVDs for a given month.

How are the discs delivered & returned?

Outnow delivers your choice of DVDs to your home by First Class postage. The DVDs are sent in slim, letterbox-friendly envelopes, so that they come directly to your home with no need for tiresome trips to the Post Office or rental stores.

Dependent on your rental package your discs are delivered and returned in batches of 2 or 3 per envelope. For example, on the 4 disc unlimited package, you will receive 2 batches of 2 discs and you should return 2 discs per envelope, except when you have a priority New Release disc, which we ask you to return as soon as possible for the benefit of other Members, and may be returned individually.

You’ll find all the information you need about discs sent and returned by logging into your account, but we also send email updates of dispatches and returned discs if you wish. You are responsible for managing your account and, in the event that any discs go missing in the post either inbound or outbound, we simply ask you to notify us within 30 days of posting and we will mark them as lost and dispatch further discs. We may also ask you to complete a Lost Disc Form, so that we can seek recompense from the Royal Mail.

Please note that, in the event that you decide to cancel your account, it is compulsory to obtain a Certificate of Postage (free from the Post Office) when you return your final discs.

When do I have to send DVDs back?

When you are ready! Outnow works on a monthly subscription basis, so there are no specific Return Dates or Late Fees that you might expect from a rental store. Return the DVDs when you wish and as we receive each batch of discs, we will send out the next available titles on your list. To ensure you receive a constant service, it’s important to regularly update your DVD List and to use our unique Availability Guide, so that we always have discs to send out to you as we receive each batch of returned discs. The only time you will be required to return discs within a specific timeframe is if you Pause, Freeze or Cancel your Account with us.

Outnow are the only DVD rental service approved by ClickandBuy, the secure and flexible way to shop online. With ClickandBuy you register your personal and financial details just once when you open your ClickandBuy account. From then on, just enter your unique username and password to buy from any approved partner web site, wherever you see this sign:

Why must I give Payment Details?

You will need to provide a valid means of payment when you Register. Your payment details are required for security reasons, to help us confirm that your details are genuine and to protect us against fraud or theft. We currently accept Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Visa Delta, Solo & Electron Cards or you can pay by American Express, Direct Debit or via your BT phone bill, using Click&Buy. In the event that you are joining with a Gift Subscription or special Free Trial offer, you will not be charged unless you decide to continue to use Outnow beyond your Gift Subscription or Free Trial.

When will I be billed?

If you are joining on a Free Trial offer, you will only be charged if you continue renting from us beyond your Free Trial, in which case you will be charged your first month’s subscription payment for your chosen rental package the day after the end of your Free Trial. If you decide you do not wish to carry on using Outnow beyond your Free Trial, you should log into your account, make an Account Cancellation request before the end of your Free Trial ends and then return any outstanding discs within 7 days, in which case no charges will be made. If you join on our “half price for the first month” Introductory Offer, you will be charged half price for your first month when you complete registration.

Outnow operates automatic monthly subscription renewals, so we will charge your account for your chosen rental package on the same day of each subsequent month for as long as you continue to use Outnow (or the closest day to your monthly payment date in the event of “short” months - i.e. if you normal payment date is 31st of the month, you will be charged on the last day of those months that have 30 days or less).

In the event that you are registering with a Gift Subscription, enhanced Free Trial or other Special Offer, any additional terms of your introductory offer and subsequent subscription will be confirmed during Registration. In the case of Gift Subscriptions or Free Trial offers you will not be charged unless you decide to continue to use Outnow after your Gift Subscription period or beyond your Free Trial.

Can under-18's subscribe?

We currently do not offer the service to people under the age of 18, as many of the DVDs available on Outnow can are Certificate 18 and can only legally be rented by people aged 18 or over.

Is Outnow available outside the UK?

We currently only operate the service in the UK, where the discs can be delivered and returned by First Class Royal Mail postage.

How do I choose / order DVDs?

To choose and order discs, simply browse around the site and add titles to your List. Its easy to find the DVDs you want using these features:

  • Quick Picks - e.g. TV Series, Movie Categories, New Releases, Top 100 etc…
  • MyRecommendations – We suggest DVDs based on the ratings you give
  • Top Rated – DVDs that our other Members have rated highly
  • Outnow’s Critic – Our critic’s recommendations
  • Search – Search on Keyword, Title or Actor
  • Advanced Search – More detailed search by genre, director etc
You can always sort your Search results by title, release date, genre, certificate or rating. Whenever you find a title you want to see, just click on “Add DVD” (or “Pre-Order” in the case of titles that are not yet out on DVD) and they will be added to your List.

Can I Pre-Book titles before DVD release?

Yes! You can Pre-Order titles from the Coming Soon or At the Cinema Quickpicks and they will be added to MyPre-Orders. These titles will be transferred to your List as soon as they are released.

I can’t find a specific DVD. What do I do?

Outnow have access to virtually every DVD in the UK and our DVD information is provided by the RedMuze database. If you ever have difficulty finding a title, let us know by contacting Customer Service and we’ll find it for you!

How do I manage MyList?

You now have much more control over your Rental List and can tell us which titles at Top, High or Medium priority for you. We’ll always try and send your Top priority titles first of course, but please also refer to the Availability flags to help you manage your choices.

We recommend that you keep plenty of titles in your List (at least 15) and that you use the Top, High and Medium priority indicators to tell us which titles you want to receive first. How quickly will I get DVDs?

When you join, you will be required to choose a minimum of 10 discs and we will dispatch your first available discs as quickly as possible. Our Distribution Centre operates Monday-Friday and, for orders placed before 3pm, we offer same-day dispatch using First Class postage, so your first available disc(s) should arrive the within one business day.
For example, if you sign up on a Wednesday before 3pm, we will despatch your top available choice(s) that afternoon by First Class Post and you should receive them Thursday morning.

I’ve lost my Password. What do I do?

If you’ve forgotten your password, click the Lost Password link at the top of the page and we’ll send it to you in an email. We’ll use the email address you use to log in to Outnow, so if you have two email addresses or more, be sure to check the right one.

I've lost an envelope. What do I do?

We use special two-way, prepaid envelopes, so it’s free to send the DVDs back.

If you lose an envelope, simply log in, go to the My List page, and click "Report a problem". From there you can simply request a spare envelope and we will send you one in the next post. Simple, and it will not cost you a penny.

My DVD(s) seem to be lost in the post. What do I do?

All information about dispatches & returns is clearly shown in your account when logged in to the Outnow website and it is your responsibility to notify us in the event that a disc or batch of discs goes missing. This is very rare and you must allow at least 4 postal days before reporting a lost shipment outbound or inbound, as stipulated by the Royal Mail.

If the shipment has still not arrived, simply log in and go to the My List page, and click "Report a problem". From there you can report your disc(s) as lost.

Please note that, while your Membership remains active, you will not be liable for the cost of discs lost in the post so long as you notify us within 30 days of the postage of any item(s) that you think are lost, and that you complete and return the simple Lost Disc Form that we provide, should you be required to do so.

I've received a damaged disc. What do I do?

We check all discs before dispatch and our special envelopes are highly protective, but discs are occasionally damaged in transit. If you receive a disc that is damaged or won’t play, please contact Customer Service immediately and we can arrange a replacement.

Can I cancel my DVD Rental Account?

Yes - very easily!

With Outnow DVD Rental, there is no “annual contract” and your account operates month by month with your subscription remaining active for as long as you wish.

If you want to take a break for any reason, there is no need to cancel - you can easily Pause your account instead for 1-3 weeks (e.g. if you are going on holiday or moving house) or you can Freeze your account for a longer period (up to 60 days) if you prefer. In each case, you be asked to return any outstanding discs and your account will be suspended for free for as long as you specify, with the rental time that you have paid for being carried forward, so you don’t miss out!

Or, if you would like to pay less or rent more, you can easily downgrade or upgrade your rental package whenever you wish.

If you do wish to make an Account Cancellation request, simply log in to your account with your username and password, then visit the MyAccount area, choose the “Account Cancellation” option and follow the instructions.

Please note: For security reason an Account Cancellation request can only be initiated when you have passed security and cannot be accepted by email, voicemail or post.

Can I Resubscribe after I cancel?

Of course! You would be very welcome to join us again at any time in the future. Please note, however, that you would not be eligible for a further Introductory Offer, such as “First Month half price”.

Can I put my Account on hold?

Yes. If you need to take a break – e.g. for a Holiday or because you are busy moving house – you can simply Pause or Freeze your account very easily at any time, within the MyAccount area.

Please note that this functionality is not available during an introductory offer period or free trial.

Can I Upgrade or Downgrade my package?

Of course! If you want to upgrade or downgrade your rental package at any time, simply follow the link in MyAccount before your next monthly billing date. The package change will then come into effect when your next monthly payment has been collected.

How do I use a Voucher Code?

Outnow occasionally provide special offers, often in association with partner companies. If you have a Voucher Code, please make sure you enter it at the start of the sign up process to claim your offer (This often happens automatically if you click through from a partner website or offer email). The details of the offer you are claiming with your Voucher Code will be re-confirmed to you before you complete the sign-up process.

What if I don't have a Voucher Code?

If you don't have a Voucher Code, simply leave this field blank in the Registration process and you will automatically be able to claim half price for your first month.
